White Christmas

Sin duda White Christmas es uno de mis villancicos preferidos y también una de las canciones más grabadas de la historia. Fue escrita por un gran compositor norteamericano llamado Irving Berlin, e interpretada inicialmente y popularizada por el cantante y actor Bing Crosby. Supongo que nunca habíais oido hablar de ellos, pero estoy seguro de que vuestros padres sí los conocen o han escuchado muchas de sus canciones. Bueno, os dejo con una escena de la película Holiday Inn (1942) en la que Crosby interpreta junto a Marjorie Reynolds este bonito e imperecedero tema que, por cierto, ese año ganó el Óscar de Hollywood a la mejor canción. Que paséis unas buenas navidades. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Our European Section

Since the course 2007-08 Izpisúa Belmonte Secondary School has been developing the European Section Project granted by the Culture and Education Department of Castilla –La Mancha.

The application of this kind of project is a determined bet by our school for a bilingual educative model, with the target of improving the command of the English language as a learning vehicle together with the students´mother tongue.


Implications of being a European Section

The students will receive two classes per week in English in several non-linguistic areas:

1º ESO: Natural Science, Social Science, Music, Technology and Physical Education.
2º ESO: Natural Science and Art.

In forthcoming years, this type of education will affect other areas and levels. The school has teachers specialized in English language who support the teachers of other areas that use English apart from Spanish to deal with their subjects. The school has a British conversation assistant as well. The students have another hour of class in English with the help of the assistant.


Who can register in the European Section?

The students who are going to study 1º ESO for the next course 2008-09 can apply to enter this project when they register in our school.

The students registered in this project must stay in it, unless there is a justified reason on the parents´or tutor´s side under the advice of the Orientation Department or the Evaluation board .

Visita al parque solar de Nava Campaña

Alumnos de 2º curso de ESO del IES Izpisúa Belmonte visitaron el pasado día cuatro de diciembre las instalaciones del parque fotovoltáico que la empresa Abaste tiene en Nava Campaña (Hellín). Allí, fueron atendidos por monitoras medioambientales del Ayuntamiento, quienes informaron al alumnado sobre las principales características de estas instalaciones y los beneficios que para el medio ambiente tiene la utilización de las energías renovables.

El IES Izpisúa Belmonte, fiel a su compromiso de mejora en la calidad de la enseñanza, forma parte de la red de centros públicos con Secciones Europeas desde el curso 2007-08. Los docentes del centro creemos que el dominio de diferentes lenguas aporta una visión más rica de la realidad al tiempo que multiplica las posibilidades de los alumnos al facilitarles una herramienta que les abrirá nuevos campos y hará de ellos verdaderos ciudadanos de Europa y del Mundo.
