Since the course 2007-08 Izpisúa Belmonte Secondary School has been developing the European Section Project granted by the Culture and Education Department of Castilla –La Mancha.
The application of this kind of project is a determined bet by our school for a bilingual educative model, with the target of improving the command of the English language as a learning vehicle together with the students´mother tongue.
Implications of being a European Section
The students will receive two classes per week in English in several non-linguistic areas:
1º ESO: Natural Science, Social Science, Music, Technology and Physical Education.
2º ESO: Natural Science and Art.
In forthcoming years, this type of education will affect other areas and levels. The school has teachers specialized in English language who support the teachers of other areas that use English apart from Spanish to deal with their subjects. The school has a British conversation assistant as well. The students have another hour of class in English with the help of the assistant.
Who can register in the European Section?
The students who are going to study 1º ESO for the next course 2008-09 can apply to enter this project when they register in our school.
The students registered in this project must stay in it, unless there is a justified reason on the parents´or tutor´s side under the advice of the Orientation Department or the Evaluation board .
